I checked my Internet connection speed, upload & download, using the Speakeasy Web site.
Here’s the result:
That is pretty darn fast.
What’s even more remarkable is that the test was run from my laptop upstairs via a wireless router which is downstairs at the other end of the house.
The official rating of my connection is “UP TO 25/25.” I’d say I’m pretty close to the estimated speed. I’ll have to make a direct connection to the router and check out the speed from that point. I just don’t care to make the journey downstairs right now.
Of course, since the server on the other end is out of my control (and that of Frontier or any other carrier), the speed will fluctuate from one minute to the next depending on what millions of other people are doing. All I know for sure is that the speed I’m enjoying is much better than the 56kb (max) speed I used to suffer with in my dial-up days.
I was a little slow, compared to others, in using the Internet. My first computer was a Kaypro II, purchased in 1983. I’ll discuss that computer and other tech issues in a subsequent post. If you follow the link to the Kaypro, be sure to notice the price. That is exactly what I paid for mine. Unbelievable!
